Have you ever experienced book commitmentophobia? For me this is often the first symptom of an impending reading slump. I also experience this when the book is hella big. You feel me?
This past week, I have picked up probably seven or eight books and read the first 10-50 pages from them. But, at some point, I would just close the book and decide Nah, not feeling it. It’s really discouraging for me when this happens because I really want to read. It’s not that I don’t want to read. Because I really, really do. But I can’t find anything I’m actually interested in! All these books… I want to read eventually. But for some reason none of them are doing it for me right now!
To get out of slumps like this, I usually try to find something easy and quick to read. So… I went on the search. Still… Couldn’t find anything. But then a book came in for me at the library! The Sacred Lies of Minnow Bly by Stephanie Oakes. I had heard good things about this one and had nothing to lose. I started reading it and am now 100 pages in and still reading. So, I’m hoping that my attention stays grasped!
