As we ring in 2015, the conversations are awash with new years resolutions and reflections on 2014. This is just the way we function! The new year is seen as fresh start. A blank page, if you will. In a recent post, I did The Perpetual Page-Turner’s end of the year survey and reflected on my year. Now let’s look forward!
I will read a minimum of 75 books in total.
Last year my original goal was 50, but I ended up bumping it up to 70. I made it to 75! This year I am challenging myself to read 75 books again. I am not going to up that number because I don’t want to stress myself about trying to read a whole bunch of books. I felt like this year I was at a good pace, and I just want to keep it up!
Complete in 5 reading challenges and participate in at least 1 Readathon.
I had no idea how many reading challenged there were out there! And I didn’t even know a Readathon was a thing until recently! Down below I will tell you the challenges I am planning on participating in! 🙂
Read more diversely.
I will read at least 15 books by non-white authors and at least 5 taking place on a different continent/in a different culture. I’m not exactly reaching for the stars here, but it’s a start.
Read more sustainably.
I will read more library books, ebooks, and books I already own. This is meant to decrease my footprint, increase my self-control, broaden my horizons, and save me some moneymoney.
Read more classics.
I will read at least 5 books considered classics (this includes modern classics). In the past year I have been mainly reading bestsellers and I want to get back into the lovely classics. There are so many on my TBR!
I will reread at least 1 book that will impact me in a meaningful way now that I am older. I am really not a big rereader. At all.
Read more broadly.
I will read books from a wider range of genres, including at least 3 books from genres I’m less familiar with/don’t read often.
I will journal.
I will keep a journal of all the books I read! Even if it’s just a list. Although preferably I’ll scribble in some thoughts. I like to have a hard copy of these sorts of things!
I will “read” more audiobooks.
I’ve given audiobooks a chance this year and have really enjoyed it! This year I will “read” at least 10!
I will give debut authors a chance.
I will read at least 5 debuts.
I will get into the backlist of at least 1 author I first read in 2014.
I just… Want to do this. 🙂
I will respond to all comments (and tweets and stuff), and comment back on the blogs of all people who comment on Fuelled By Fiction! (Unless my blog somehow explodes over the next year and that becomes impossible. I somehow doubt it).
I will post a booktube video once a week (ish).
A few weeks ago, I joined BookTube! Hurrah! This year I challenge myself to keep up with it and try to post one video a week.
I will post at least 3 times a week on the blog. At Least 1 should be a review.
I will write more discussions posts and participate in more discussions on other blogs.
Be consistent and disciplined.
I will make a post schedule and keep the deadlines!
I will reach out to other bloggers and be more involved in the blogging community. I will also participate in at least 3 Top Ten Tuesday a month!
Stay in the loop.
I will keep up on new and upcoming releases!
Learn, learn, learn.
I will keep learning about how to blog successfully and posting about it in Adventures of a Book Blogging Newbie.
Take advantage of the excellent bookish resources that are out there.
I will learn how to use Netgalley. And then use it. I will actually read the ebook I got from Blogging For Books.
Grow in confidence.
I will get to a place where I feel confident in my blogging and begin to feel ready to request review copies from publishers. 🙂
31 Days of Better Blogging
This month, Parajunkee’s View is hosting 31 Days of Better Blogging. I think this is an awesome idea and the daily challenges are all excellent. I am only sort of participating in this one, however. I do plan to tackle these challenges, but I am not going to be doing them daily, or only in January. Here is the link to the challenge!
TBR Pile Challenge.
Part of my goal in reading sustainably is to read books I already own that have been sitting on my shelves for a while. This year I will be
participating in the the 2015 TBR Pile Challenge hosted by Bookish! I am aiming for A Friendly Hug (11-20 books). Here is the link to the challenge!
This challenge is hosted by Book Journey. I think this is a really excellent idea, and again will help me with my sustainable reading resolution. I am aiming for Seasoned (14-22 checkouts). Here is the link to the challenge!
The Introverted Reader is
hosting the Non-Fiction reading challenge! I have discovered a love of memoir and plan to continue exploring the genre this year. I am aiming for Explorer (6-10 books). Here’s the link to the challenge!
This challenged is hosted by The Book Nympho and Hot Listens! Having just discovered my enjoyment of audiobooks, I am aiming for Stenographer (10-15 audiobooks)! Here is the link to the challenge!
has read 1 book toward her goal of 75 books.
Last but not least, the Goodreads Challenge. This is my third year participating and I am aiming for 75 books!
What are your 2015 reading resolutions? Are you participating in any challenges this year?
