Top 10 Books From My Childhood & Teen Years That I Would Like To Revisit!

Top Ten Tuesday is a weekly meme created by
This week join me on a walk down memory lane! Here are the
top ten books from my younger years that I’d like to revisit
and/or reread!

1. Tuck Everlasting by Natalie Babbitt
I read this book in school when I was in grade six. My class read it in the year the movie was released. We went on a class trip to see the movie! The school rented out one of the theatres for us to watch it! It was so neat. I loved the book and the movie so much.
2. Because of Winn-Dixie by Kate Dicamillo
This is such a sweet story about a father, a daughter, and a stray dog that can smile. I remember laughing a lot and absolutely loving it.
3. The Georgia Nicholson series by Louise Rennison
I absolutely loved this series. It constantly had me laughing out loud. I could never read these books in public. It was also pretty great that these books are British and had lots of British terms and slang! These were my absolute favourite books in middle school.
4. The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants series by Ann Brashares
These are some great books. I can’t remember if I finished the whole series, but I really liked the first one. I also loved the movies. I lent the first one to someone and they never gave it back…
5. The Truth About Forever by Sarah Dessen
This is the first book I read by Sarah Dessen, and it has remained my favourite. I read it sometime early on in high school and really loved it. Soon after that I realized that the movie How To Deal starring Mandy Moore was based on a combo of two of her books! That movie was (is) one of my favourites. This just solidified her as one of my faves. I haven’t read anything of hers in forever!
6. The Book Thief by Markus Zusak
I read this book in grade eleven. It immediately became one of my favourites! I did a whole project on it! It’s been on my mind that last little while since the movie came out. I’ll have to get another copy of this one though. I lent it to a friend the year that I read it, and she completely destroyed it (and with no remorse. Yes, I’m still bitter).
7. The Gemma Doyle series by Libba Bray
I read this series in high school and I loved it. It was one of my first forays back into the realm of fantasy. Fantasy was all I read when I was a kid, then I read almost solely contemporaries when I was a teen.
8. Inkheart by Cornelia Funke
I read this book when I was in middle school I think. I really enjoyed it! I haven’t read any of the other books in the series because by they time they came out I had “outgrown” fantasy. Now I’m ready to find out what happens next!
9. The Outsiders by SE Hinton
I think pretty much everyone read this book in middle school. I loved it. I still love it. Although now most of my memories of it stem from the movie. I’d like to reread the book now that I’m older!
10. The Angels in Pink trilogy by Lurlene McDaniel
When I was a teenager I loved Lurlene McDaniel (even though most her books are really depressing).  She writes such beautiful tearjerkers. This trilogy is sad, but I remember it also being uplifting the way that friendship is portrayed. I wonder if I still have these books somewhere…

Honourable mentions: The Harry Potter series, The Babysitters Club series, and the Jewel Kingdom series!

Are there any books from your younger years you’d like to reread? Which books and why?
